Hi I'm Tam. A Photographer, Videographer and Graphic Designer.

I've been travelling around the world for half my life, and after the last few years ‘stuck at home’, I’ve come to realise home is exactly the place I want to explore.

In 2020 I spend my house savings fund on a brand new Mercedes Sprinter van. I figured if I couldn’t travel overseas I would spend the time exploring the country I live.

I designed the layout, got a builder to convert it then DIYed the rest to help bring her to life.

My van’s called Fernweh. She’s a Mercedes Sprinter all the way from Germany. So it’s fitting that I gave her a name straight from her homeland.

Fernweh is a combination of two German words - Fern meaning far and weh meaning woe or pain.

Like FarSickness, kind of the opposite to Home Sickness.

Fernweh means an ache for distant places. A craving to travel far away, to somewhere you’ve never been. And since she came into my life we’ve definitely travelled to places I never even knew I needed to see.

At the start of 2022 I had big plans to take Fern on some massive adventures.

I moved out of my apartment, packed up and sold everything I owned and moved full time into the van.

October came around and I still found myself sitting behind my office desk wishing to be somewhere else. I felt the end of year clock ticking and decided if I wanted to see the year out from behind my steering wheel I needed to make one last change.

I quit my job in Sydney and made plans to set off on the biggest road trip of my life.

I’m about to tackle the BIG LAP of Australia. One full loop travelling across every state and territory.

I live in a country that has the most diverse landscape, something to capture every kind of photographer.

I'll be going to all the places every photographer wants to go – and with Australia as my backdrop I know there is an open road of endless inspiration.

So here’s where my blog begins. I’ll be documenting my entire trip to show you that you don’t need to travel far to have some of the biggest adventures of your life.

There’s so many things you can experience exploring your own backyard.

I’ll see you on the road!
